The Caltech Archives is seeking volunteers for its exhibition Becoming Caltech: Building a Research Community, 1910–1930

The Caltech Archives operates a small museum, the Beckman Room, dedicated to Caltech’s role in the history of science and technology. Our new exhibition, on Caltech in the 1910s and 1920s, will open on Feburary 10, 2020 to commemorate 100 years from the day when the Institute was named the California Institute of Technology (Caltech).

We are seeking volunteer docents, who will have the following responsibilities:

•Answering visitor questions about the exhibit.
•Supervising the exhibition to ensure the safety and security of visitors and the objects on display.

No previous knowledge of the topics covered in the exhibit is required. The Archives will provide training and guidance.

The exhibit will be open Monday – Friday, 11 am – 4 pm; we seek volunteers who can work 11:00–1:30, 1:30–4:00, or 11:00–4:00. The exhibit will run until December 2020.

A commuter parking permit and Caltech ID will be provided on request.
