Directory of Corporate Archives This site provides a listing, and contact information for companies that maintain their own historical records, or use consulting firms to maintain their archive collection.
Forbes 500
1997-2003
Forbes annual listing of companies. Sort list by Name, Rank, Sales, Profits, Assets, Market Value, or Employees. Companies are ranked from 1 to 500 by sales, assets, profits, and market cap. The Forbes 500s rank is then computed by calculating an average of all of these." (quoted from website).
Hoover’s Online Provides free brief descriptions of 2,500 companies including annual sales, CEO, CFO etc. as well as links to several major news wires such as PR Newswire. IndustryWeek This free site provides data on the world's 1,000 largest publicly-held manufacturing companies, based on revenue. The list provides the company name, a link to a short company profile, and its ranking for the current and previous year. Industry Week is a popular business trade journal that reports on manufacturing firms.
Kompass Access basic information (contact information, trade names) for companies worldwide. More detailed information requires a paid subscription.
LexisNexis Academic Universe Find company financial information, patent information, news and legal information by selecting the "Business" button under Search.
Public Register's Annual Report Service PRARS provides annual reports for many US companies. Also provides exhaustive information about annual reports. Consult the Annual Reports Library on more ways to locate annual reports and tips on reading them. Also listed under Industry Resources
SEC’s EDGAR Database of Corporate Information Publicly traded companies in the United States are required by law to submit information (10-K’s and 10-Q’s filed annually and quarterly respectively) to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Sometimes this site is unreliable and it is strongly recommended that you use one of the following three sites, as they carry the same data, but allow you to find it reliably

WetFeet This site offers over 1,600 snapshots of companies.

Important resource for locating associations and professional societies. It contains information for approximately 460,000 international and U.S. national, regional, state, and local nonprofit membership organizations in all fields. Of particular interest to business researchers is the existence of newsletters, trade journals and statistical publications. Trade associations often have valuable/unique information about their industry that may not be available elsewhere.
